Give the children what they want!!!!!!!
So today, the same child, who I'll call "Molly" for anonymity's sake, asked where my boyfriend was so we all went to the map to see England and then see how far it is to B.C. Canada. Thankfully Andy is in Vancouver right now so I didn't have to deal with trying to explain why my boyfriend is living on an invisible island (Thetis Island doesn't show up on our children's world map.) I was trying to explain the concept of distance to my bunch of 2 year olds so said "you have to go on a big airplane to get there and it takes a long time!" Then they start jumping up and down saying "we're going on an airplane, we're going on a airplane!!!"
"No, no, no, I said, we're not going on an airplane"
"But we have our coats on" said Molly
"I know but we can't go on an airplane now, it takes too long and we don't have enough pennies"
"Later?"
"we can't go later either"
"But I want to go to Hanida and see your boyfriend!"
So do I, so do I!!!!!!!!
Whether I would want to take a whole bunch of 2 year olds with me on the long trip would be another question.

kids say the darndest things hey ? lol
Hi Ames we have about £4.22 in pennies which is yours my luv how many more do you need to go to Hanida! (travel with any two year old is nightmare so I'd send them by fedEX they'll be there before you will) Have fun!
I would have to agree with Beth. I think travelling with 2 year olds would be a nightmare. Trust me 13 hours in our van was hard enough let alone an airplane.
Just wanted to respond to your comment left on dutchblitz.net regarding the SAHM debate.
I think you had some great points on the importance of pre-school in a child's development. I do think, however, that your argument on children who are in full-time daycare/ pre-school is lacking. Sometimes, parents don't have a choice. Most of time, the development of a child is dependant on a lot of other factors, such as: the skills of the parent, the pre-disposition of the child and the environment/ staff of the pre-school or daycare.
Making blanket statements like, "fulltime ones seem to lack a sense of security, their need for affirmation and attention is much greater", proves all the more that your knowledge on this topic is limited. Look beyond your filter of experience and look through that of parents or others other than those in your own life existence. If you do this you might discover that finding evidence to support your statements is difficult.
The speculation of being a parent and the realities of actually being one are drastically different. When you say, "nothing is better then having a stay at home parent" you again show your immense ignorance. I'm being blunt and wasting my time in even responding to your comment, because maybe next time you might think a little bit more and take off your "rose colored glasses" and coming across sounding more intelligent and respectful to parents who try to do the best they can with what they have, to children who would rather be at daycare than be at home and grown children who did not experience a full-time parent and feel they did not miss out on anything.
Hi Amie,
Just reading that last comment, I don't know what you said to begin with but I'm pretty sure I agree with you. Don't take that last comment to heart! Stay at home moms are the best!! And yes I am one of those people who reads your blog but doesn't comment very often (sorry:) Here I am! I hope you are doing well.

I don't know who annonymous is who left that comment, if I did I would respond to them personally and say that they are absolutly right, my experience is limited, I do not know every case.
I was really ONLY responding to angella and encouraging her in the choices she has made and her decision to work part time.
The blanket statments I appeared to make were really only about children I know, it's true that I do notice a difference between the children we have in day care full time and those who are only there part time, obviously that statment does not take into account EVERY person in the world, only those I am with.
There are a few million different situations in this world and I know that one hat doesn't fit all by anymeans. Like I said, the comment was directed at one person and I am sorry if it offended you.
The statements I made that you quoted were preceeded by saying 'in my opinion' it's not an expert opinion and clearly I did not write it well, I wrote it in haste and in future I will be more careful about where and how I give my opinions. this has made me aware more people that I realise read them.
appologies
I appreciate your response. And not because I, personally was offended, but because you need to realize that your audience is more than just the blogger themselves, but endless readers.
Because you are an intelligent individual and the majority of blogging audiences are women combined with the personal nature of this topic, your comments are paradoxical.
I applaud you for your recognition of the reality of a wider blogging audience and am confident you will follow through with your intention to blog with caution.
Strong, sophisticated argument, 'Katie W from Cali'!!! Can you make it more obvious that you traded your brain in for a Diaper Genie!
